About Us

​

flour+ is an online bakery located in Ames, Iowa. We bake and deliver fresh bread and pastries to your door step. Our mission is to bake everything fresh on-site with simple, recognizable, and quality ingredients that are delicious on their own. We produce premium and healthy baked goods by avoiding preservatives, flavors, and sweetness from artificial sources as much as possible and using quality ingredients, such as unbleached flour, rBST-free milk, and cage-free eggs without antibiotics.

About Our Baker

As a Baker/Owner of flour+, Jin has been making a career out of her own passion for baking. She earned a Bachelor degree in Baking & Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales University, Providence, RI. During and after the degree, she had an opportunity to develop her talents while working at a hotel and a bakery in the Boston areas.

Working in the industry, she realized that she got a desire to learn more fundamental theories about the food service industry so, in 2010, she moved to Ames, IA to pursue a doctoral degree in Hospitality Management with an emphasis on Foodservice Management at Iowa State University. Upon completing her doctoral degree, she moved to Hawaii to work as an Assistant Professor in University of Hawaii and there she taught Foodservice Management for some years. In Hawaii where diverse cultures coexist, she had the privilege of indulging in and being inspired by a wide selection of foods, including baked goods, from a diverse set of cultures. Hawaii was absolutely beautiful but she missed Ames and her family. Long story to short, she was back to Ames in 2018 and since then, has created new recipes to produce quality products with simple ingredients and opened this flour+ here in Ames!
